Logan Director Looking To Make DC Movie Or Series

It’s been revealed that Logan and Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny director, James Mangold, is looking to make a movie or TV series for DC Studios. This news was revealed by Deadline, and I think this would be a brilliant coup for the studio. I also wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a lot more directors are interested in working with DC Studios after they appointed James Gunn and Peter Safran as the company’s co-CEOs.

There are a lot of people in the industry that like the fact that Gunn and Safran are now in charge of all future DC projects. They seem to see them as people who prioritise storytelling ahead of potential revenue, which is exactly how it should be. There has been a lot written about what’s happening over at DC Studios, but the truth is that only Gunn and Safran really know what going to happen. However, one of the rumours we’re hearing is that they are looking to bring Mangold on board to make a movie or head up a TV show set in the DCU.

According to Deadline’s sources, Mangold is “excited” to do business with DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Their sources suggested that the director could direct a movie or a TV show under the DC Studios banner. Moreover, Deadline then added that IT and The Flash director, Andy Muschietti is being eyed for another DCU project after the release of The Flash.

James Mangold is one of those directors that’s only gotten better with age. He’s made movies such as Cop Land, The Wolverine, Girl, Interrupted, Logan, Walk The Line, and his next movie will be the fifth Indiana Jones film.

What could this DC project be?

One of the big questions we’d like to try and get an answer to is which DC project Mangold is looking to direct for DC Studios. He’s already proven himself to be an excellent filmmaker, and I would argue that he’s one of the most versatile directors working in Hollywood today. He can basically do anything: drama, romance, action, sci-fi… Anything.

I think that Mangold made one of the best Marvel movies ever made in Logan (yep, I truly believe that). So, it would be a huge coup for Gunn, Safran and DC Studios should he go and make a movie or a TV show for them. But, what could it be? At the moment, we have no idea what project he’s reportedly developing with DC Studios.

We still don’t know what DC’s plans are for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman in the DCU. We don’t even know what they are planning on doing with The Flash after the release of the upcoming Muschietti movie.

It seems as though Ben Affleck isn’t going to be returning as Batman after The Flash film’s release. There were reports that he had signed on for a Batman trilogy, but it seems as though Gunn and Safran have stopped that from happening. We also don’t know what’s happening with Henry Cavill’s Superman. There were reports that Warner Bros was looking at making a Man Of Steel sequel, but it seems as though those plans have also been stopped.

Then there’s the Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves Batman movies and spinoff series. It seems that those projects are all still moving forward, as is the Joker sequel. These films and TV shows seem to be happening aside from the main DC Studios stuff.

I would love to see Mangold make the DCU’s Batman movies, but I have a feeling that they might not want to make too many Batman movies. I would love to see it. However, I’m really not sure what they are planning.

Another possibility is that Gunn and Safran are talking to Mangold about making a Lobo movie starring Jason Momoa. Wouldn’t that be brilliant?
