Jessica Chastain has revealed in an interview that she would like to play Beverly Marsh in IT: Chapter 2. Check out what she had to say below.
This year’s cinematic adaptation of Stephen King’s IT took cinemas by storm. Audiences, including us here at Small Screen, loved the horror/adventure movie and we’re all eagerly awaiting the sequel, IT: Chapter 2. This movie will involve the same members of the Losers Club, just 27 years after the events of the first film. During an interview with MTV at San Diego Comic-Con, the child actors were asked who they would like to play the adult versions of their characters in the next movie and their choices were interesting, chief among which was Sophie Lillis’ pick. She mentioned that she would like to see Jessica Chastain play the adult version of her character, Beverly Marsh. This would be a brilliant bit of casting and Chastain was asked about it during an interview with Screen Rant. Here’s what she had to say:
“Well, I love Andy and [producer] Barbara [Muschietti]. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film, Mama. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so…We’ll see…Listen, of course, I want to work… they’re my friends. They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it happen.”
I’m sure that should her schedule align, we will get to see her play Beverly in IT: Chapter 2, because she would be perfect for the role, but also because people can no longer imagine anyone else as Beverly, just 27 years older. Moreover, Chastain and the Muschietti’s have worked together before on the spooky horror film Mama and to great effect. It also sounds like they enjoyed working together to hopefully the stars will align with this one (see what I did there).
The rest of IT’s young cast had some pretty interesting choices on who should play the older versions of their characters. Wyatt Oleff thought that Joseph Gordon Levitt would be a good fit as Stan. Finn Wolfhard wants to see Bill Hader as Richie. Jack Dylan Grazer recons that Jake Gyllenhaal should play the adult version of Eddie. Chosen Jacobs picked Black Panther’s Chadwick Boseman should be Mike in IT: Chapter 2. Finally, Jeremy Ray Taylor would love to see Chris Pratt play Ben in the sequel.
If their wishes come true then IT: Chapter 2 would have a cast to remember. The one thing we do know is that Bill Skarsgård would be reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, which is a good enough reason to see the sequel.
What do you think of Jessica Chastain as Bev in IT: Chapter 2 and who would you like to see play the adult version of the Losers Club? Let us know in the comments below.
IT: Chapter 2 is set for a September 6th, 2019 release.
