It’s being rumoured that HBO Max’s upcoming Green Lantern series will include mature content and rated TV-MA in the United States. This was reported by The Direct, who’s also claiming that the show’s main villains will be the Dominators.
The Direct claim that the reason this show will be rated TV-MA (mature) is due to a lot of profanity and violence in the series. This means that this show will be very, very different from many of the previous DC Comics TV shows we’ve seen in the past.
Think less Arrowverse, and more Doom Patrol or Titans. Lots of swearing, blood and violence. I’m pretty sure people will be rather excited to see this mature version of Green Lantern on the small screen.
They also say that the series will feature Bree Jarta and Guy Gardner partnering up in 1984. The Direct then added that this will be the time period when they’ll have to face the Dominators.

The Dominators, also known as The Dominion in the comics, are not the most well-known villains to the casual comics reader. I must admit that before writing this article, I knew next to nothing about them, and I read a lot of comics.
What I managed to find out about them is that they are an alien race and they were the people behind the whole Invasion! comic book storyline. In this storyline, they ended up forcing many of the members of the Justice League to attack Earth.
This was sort of adapted in the Arrowverse crossover event, and that ended up causing a real headache for Green Arrow, The Flash and friends. However, it wasn’t a straight adaptation of that storyline. This Green Lantern series might be more true to the comics. We’ll have to wait and see.
