Five Nights At Freddy’s Movie Release Date Revealed

Five-Nights-At-Freddy’s-Movie-Release-Date-Revealed

It’s been revealed that Blumhouse’s upcoming Five Nights At Freddy’s movie is going to be released simultaneously on streaming and in cinemas. This movie has been in production for a very, very long time, and we finally have a release date for the film.

So, it’s been revealed that the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has set an October release date which means that this film ig going to be terrifying audiences in multiplexes and on Peacock. Well, I’m still not sure whether this film is going to be streaming in the UK or in Europe because Peacock isn’t available over here.

Universal Pictures announced a simultaneous release for the Blumhouse-produced adaptation of the popular horror video game series. They then revealed that the film would be released on October 27th, 2023. This will be the movie’s release date in both cinemas and on the streaming platform.

Moreover, the film’s producer Jason Blum, took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to announce the release date, though a note on the simultaneous Peacock debut is absent.

Here’s what Blum had to say about this upcoming movie:

As promised: #FNAF FANS: You asked and we delivered.  #FNAFMovie is coming this Halloween on October 27.  2023!!!!! 205 days until the party. And that is the BIG NEWS

This announcement was then followed up with an exclusive article from Varitey which added that the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie would also be released on Peacock at the same time as it is released in cinemas. I’m not so sure whether this is a good idea these days.

Films that are released in cinemas and on streaming simultaneously haven’t done all that well at the box office. Warner Bros. Pictures found this out the hard way when they released all of their big 2021 releases on HBO Max at the same time as they did in cinemas.

That resulted in the likes of Wonder Woman 1984, Dune and The Suicide Squad not making as much money as the studio hoped they would. We’re going to have to wait and see whether this turns out to be a good business decision on Universal Pictures’ behalf.

Will the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie succeed?

That said, when it comes to this release strategy, it has to be said that Universal Pictures have been doing it for a while now. This will be the third time that the studio has set a hybrid debut for a Blumhouse production in October.

Previously, both Halloween Kills (2021) and Halloween Ends (2022) landed on Peacock the same day that they opened in theatres. Both of those films ended up doing pretty well with audiences and at the box office.

Moreover, just like the two Halloween films, Five Nights at Freddy’s carries the name of an established horror property. The movie is based on a very famous and popular video game series.

Although no production budget has been officially disclosed, Blumhouse’s output has a reputation for slim costs, meaning that they don’t often require staggering ticket sales to turn a profit in theaters. This is why Blumhouse is one of Hollywood’s most successful younger studios.

They understand that you don’t need to spend rediculous sums of money in order to make a large profit in Hollywood. It also helps that they only make horror films, which do tend to be cheaper to make than big tentpole movies.

Five Nights At Freddy’s will be released in cinemas and on Peacock on October 27th, 2023.
