There has been so much noise about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire joining Spider-Man 3, so we contacted some sources, and they’ve informed us that it is not happening.
This has been something that’s been rolling on for quite some time now.
We first reported that Garfield has signed on to cameo in a future Spider-Man movie.
However, we made it clear in the article that it was not going to be in Spider-Man 3.
We were then informed by multiple sources that both Garfield and Maguire were in talks with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios about starring in a future Spider-Man movie.
The information was that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are keen on the idea of making a Spider-Verse movie.
Last night, a new report surfaced in which ET Canada went straight to Sony Pictures themselves to ask whether the reports were true or not.
A representative from the studio responded: “Those rumoured castings are not confirmed”.
Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire aren’t involved in Spider-Man 3
Now, that isn’t really a denial in my book.
And yet, many outlets have run with it and claimed that Sony Pictures has ‘debunked’ those Maguire and Garfield Spider-Man rumours.
Actually, what they did was say that the rumours haven’t been confirmed.
These rumours were also in reference to them being in Spider-Man 3.
So, I went to some of my sources who were the people who came to me with the news that the former Spider-Man actors were in discussions to reprise their roles as the wall-crawler.
I asked them whether the actors were going to be in Spider-Man 3 or not.
Again, all of my sources informed me that they were in talks for a future Spider-Man movie, not the one that’s being filmed now.
Here’s what one of my sources told me:
No. Neither Garfield nor Maguire have ever been in discussions regarding Spider-Man 3.
It was never Spider-Man 3 they were in talks for. It’s a future Spider-Man movie they’ve signed on to.
Too many cooks in the Spide-Man 3 kitchen
A third source went a bit further, claiming:
Maguire and Garfield have signed a multiple picture deal with Sony Pictures which will start with a Spider-Verse live-action movie. They were never in talks for Spider-Man 3.
Again, I am always very careful about the tips I receive.
I have been sent numerous tips on movies and TV shows from people whom I just don’t trust or who have failed to offer up any proof that they are who they claim to be.
Insider sources are dangerous. You never really know who you’re talking to.
I always check and double-check my sources.
The ones I’ve quoted in this article are people I have come to trust over the past few months.
There have been multiple YouTubers and blogs out there reporting that Spider-Man 3 will feature cameos from Garfield and Maguire.
They were probably told this by people claiming to be insiders.
The issue is that people often don’t try to put their sources to the test.
Garfield and Maguire have signed onto another Spider-Man project
Then there’s the issue that having Magure and Garfield in Spider-Man 3 just doesn’t add up.
Think about it. Would Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures really want to cram in all those big names into one Spider-Man movie straight away?
This is really something they should build up towards.
That’s what my sources have been telling me this whole time.
They’ve told me that the idea is to have an Avengers-like Spider-Man movie.
This film will feature all the different versions of Spider-Man from the Spider-Verse as they go up against a truly formidable foe.
I was also told that they would be joined by the likes of Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius.
If Spider-Man 3 were really to feature Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man, then it would just feel too full.
No, Sony and Marvel have other plans for Spider-Man 3 and it doesn’t involve the previous versions of the wall-crawler.
What do you make of this news?
Are you looking forward to Spider-Man 3?
Do you think that adding Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to the movie would have been too much?
