EXCLUSIVE: Tobey Maguire Has Signed On To Star In A Future Spider-Man Movie

UPDATE: There have been multiple reports suggesting that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have signed onto Spider-Man 3. These reports came from FandomWIRE. However, when asked to comment on the story by ET Canada, Sony Pictures responded: “Those rumoured castings are not confirmed”.

We’ve just been informed that Tobey Maguire has now signed on to star in an upcoming Spider-Man movie alongside Tom Holland.

This has been something that Marvel and Spider-Man fans have been waiting for for quite some time now, ever since it was revealed that Marvel and Sony were thinking of making a live-action version of Spider-Verse.

This idea apparently came about after the huge success and popularity of the animated Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. That film ended up winning the Oscar for the Best Animated Feature and deservedly so.

I would argue that Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is the best Spider-Man movie ever made. Anyway, multiple sources have informed us that Tobey Maguire has finally signed on to an upcoming Spider-Man project.

So, this means that we are going to get to see Tobey Maguire back in the Spidey costume. We were told that he’s signed onto a future Spider-Man project, however, we weren’t specifically informed whether it was a Spider-Verse film or not.

I am just speculating that it must be a take on the Spider-Verse comic. There have also been reports that Maguire and Garfield could turn up at the end of Spider-Man 3.

However, our sources didn’t confirm whether that would happen or not. All that we were told was that Maguire, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios had come to an agreement.

That in itself is exciting since it did seem as though he wasn’t so sure about returning to the role.

It seems as though this will be for a live-action Spider-Verse movie

Tobey Maguire played Peter Parker in the Sam Raimi movies. He first appeared as Spider-Man in 2002, and he then starred as the Marvel Comics superhero in two subsequent movies.

Some people consider Spider-Man 2 to be one of the best, if not the best, Spider-Man movies ever made. I made it very clear earlier that I think Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is the best.

However, as far as live-action Spider-Man films are concerned, I would say that Spider-Man 2 is one of the best. There seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment with actors returning to comic book characters they played in the past.

We already know that Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will be returning as Batman in the upcoming DC Comics Flash movie. There are also reports that Warner Bros. Pictures is trying to get Christian Bale to return to play The Dark Knight.

Good luck trying to convince him to do that, Warner Bros.

Andrew Garfield had already signed on to this new Spider-Man project

We previously reported that Andrew Garfield had already signed on to return as Spider-Man. He’s made it very clear in the past how much he loved playing Spider-Man.

For the British/American actor, it was a huge honour to play the character Stan Lee created all those years ago. He’s first and foremost a fan of Spider-Man, which was probably why he opted to sign on before Maguire did.

However, it seems like they’re both on-board now. This means we will get to see Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire all turn up as their respective versions of the wall-crawler in an upcoming movie.
