Dune has grossed $40m box office in its opening weekend, making it WB’s best performing 2021 film so far.

A figure that was better than expected, given the combined theatrical and streaming release.

At the time of writing, the film has grossed $221m worldwide.

As HBO doesn’t release its viewing figures, this data was collected by Samba TV.

For Dune fans, this is hugely positive news.

It’s surely a sign that a sequel will soon be announced.

Villeneuve always intended to make his adaptation into two films.

Hence, we should see a sequel get greenlit hopefully in the coming days.

The spice has flowed, and Villeneuve should get the chance to realise his vision.

We can’t wait to venture back to Arrakis!
