Brendan Fraser has been cast in HBO Max‘s Batgirl film.
This is according to Deadline, who are reporting that Fraser has been cast in the film.
While it’s not been confirmed, it’s believed that Fraser will play the role of the villain Firefly.
This will be interesting since it would mean that Fraser would be playing two roles in the DC Universe.
He already plays Robotman in the incredible Doom Patrol series, and it looks like he’ll be playing a DC Comics villain in the Batgirl movie.
We LOVE Brendan Fraser! Long live the Brenaissance!
It’s another exciting role for Fraser who has been enjoying something of a career revival.
As well as landing a role in A24’s The Whale, Fraser will appear in Martin Scorsese’s next film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
This will also not be Fraser’s first involvement in a DC project, as he’s been a part of the cast of Doom Patrol since 2019.
In The Heights star Leslie Grace will play the titular role of Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.
J.K. Simmons will also reprise his role as Commissioner Gordon, Barbara’s father.
Jacob Scipio has also been cast in an undisclosed role.
Christina Hodson has penned the script for the film, which will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
Batgirl will be released in 2022.
