It’s not just David Tennant and Catherine Tate, but Russell T. Davies is too. With Ncuti Gatwa coming in as the 14th Time Lord, Davies is coming on to be a showrunner for the BBC series and its super exciting to all Doctor Who fans.
There is no real information about what Tennant and Tate will be doing in the show, but if Davies is back after being away from the series for 12 years, you can be sure it will have to do with something big. David Tennant was the 10th Doctor and Catherine Tate was his partner Donna Noble, traveling everywhere and anywhere, adventuring through time and space in the police box.

Davies Stated the following:
It looks impossible – first, we announce a new Doctor, and then an old Doctor, along with the wonderful Donna, what on earth is happening? Maybe this is a missing story. Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback. The only thing I can confirm is that it’s going to be spectacular, as two of our greatest stars reunite for the battle of a lifetime.
Well it looks like Tennant and Tate will be appearing for the show’s 60th anniversary which will be celebrated in 2023, and is currently in the process of being filmed. With Jodi Whittaker’s version as the Doctor coming to the end, the series is looking to come back in 2023 with Ncuti Gatwa from the popular show Sex Education.
When Tennant came back to the show for a brief stint in 2008 it brought up viewership up since the shows revival in 2005, and we can only hope his return to the series in 2023 will do the same for the series.
Maybe, just maybe, this will be the BBC’s version of their multiverse? I mean what is a Time Lord with out the ability to be able to travel through different timelines similar to the Marvel or DC timelines?
Meeting old Doctors from different times? Who knows? It wouldn’t be entirely out of the realm of possibility. They have gone up against the weeping angels, Daleks, the Cybermen, and many more. There is no shortage of what the writers, showrunners, producers, and directors can do with the series. All it takes is a little imagination to make it happen.
