Black Adam Almost Debuted In A SnyderVerse Film

Black Adam, as played by Dwayne Johnson, came very close to debuting in a SnyderVerse movie. This movie was going to be Suicide Squad 2, but Warner Bros. Pictures ended up cancelling the movie in 2018. This news comes to us via Geekosity, and I have to say that it’s pretty darn interesting.

Let’s make no bones about it, Warner Bros. Pictures has been a pretty serious mess ever since Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was released. The studio’s reaction to that movie’s reviews was just ridiculous. They completely altered course and in the end, they created more problems than they actually solved. The studio executives actually solved none of their problems and just created a whole bunch of new ones.

What they did to David Ayer’s Suicide Squad will go down in Hollywood history as one of the dumbest things a studio has ever done to a movie. They panicked and ended up getting a company that cut movie trailers to edit an entire movie. David Ayer’s original film (which was completed and ready to be released by the way) was dark, brooding, a bit scary and had a lot to say about the state of the world we live in. The movie they ended up releasing was a hot mess. It was edited at a frantic pace and felt like lots of music videos all patched together into one big shambles of a film.

Before they did this, the idea was to make a sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, and this movie was going to introduce movie audiences to Dwayne Johnson’s take on Black Adam. It seems as though he was going to be the film’s main villain. So, what they ended up doing was cancelling that movie. However, it looks like they might have taken ideas from that cancelled film and put them into the Black Adam movie we’re about to see.

Suicide Squad 2 sounds like it was going to be a lot like the Black Adam movie

Rather than Amanda Waller sending the Suicide Squad to deal with Black Adam – who’s woken up after being asleep for 5,000 years, she’s going to send the Justice Society of America to handle the problem. Although, I don’t think they’re really going to handle it all that well. The recent Black Adam trailer confirmed that Amanda Waller (played by Viola Davis) will be in the film – via another screen through which she’ll be ordering the superheroes around.

Black Adam is set to hit US theatres on October 21st, 2022. Are you going to be watching it on opening night? I am looking forward to watching it, but I’m going to be honest with you here, the trailers haven’t filled me with hope for this film. It looks a bit like a comic book movie that might have been released in the 2010s, and I’m a bit over that now. But, I might end up being pleasantly surprised by the movie.
