Batman: Dead End Fan Film Should Be Made Into A Hollywood Blockbuster

There’s an incredible Batman fan film called Batman: Dead End which was made back in 2003 and it needs to be made into a Hollywood blockbuster.

I still remember the first time I ever watched Batman: Dead End.

It was a friend of mine who told me about it knowing that I was a huge Batman fan.

I was making my way through the most famous Batman comics at the time: The Long Halloween, The Dark Knight Returns, Year One, Dark Victory

I was desperate for more Batman content, and then I saw this Batman fan film and thought, “Why on Earth don’t they turn this into a Hollywood blockbuster?”

It’s true that I didn’t know too much about how Hollywood operated at the time.

I had no idea about movie rights and which movie studio owned what.

Therefore, I had no idea that making a movie like this would be a logistical nightmare.

It’s not such a huge problem as far as comics are concerned.

Then my annoyance grew after watching AVP: Requiem rather than a Hollywood version of Dead End.

It merely worsened when I read the Batman Versus Predator comic.

Licensing in comics isn’t quite the same as it is in movies, which is why they can do these sorts of crossovers.

Dark Horse Comics has the rights to the Alien and Predator characters and they often work with DC Comics and some pretty fun crossover comics.

However, Batman’s movie rights are owned by Warner Bros. Pictures and Disney now owns the movie rights to the Alien and Predator franchises.

This happened after Disney purchased Fox, which means the likes of a Batman: Dead End type movie ever happening are very slim.

That said, moviegoers are looking for something slightly different these days and little bit more adventurous.

This would be an excellent crossover event

There’s also the fact that the Coronavirus pandemic hasn’t been good for any movie studio.

This means that they could end up trying to recuperate some of the money they’ve lost by working together.

Imagine the amount of people that would go to see Batman take on Xenomorphs and Predators.

The queues would be huge.

There’s also the fact that this Batman fan film has proven to be so very popular.

They could use this a blueprint for a larger scale movie.

Sadly, the man who played The Joker in Batman: Dead End died back in 2010.

Andrew Koenig’s performance as the Joker is very underrated.

I’d put his performance above those of Jack Nicholson and Jared Leto and below Joaquin Phoenix and Heath Ledger’s.

What Batman: Dead End does so well is it manages to encapsulate the world each character comes from.

First off, you have the musical cues, which are perfectly used here.

You can clearly hear Danny Elfman’s Batman score when you’re introduced to the Dark Knight.

Then there’s the Alien and Predator soundtracks which are also used at the perfect times.

There’s also the fact that the local is very suited to each character.

It’s dark, rainy and dirty. The whole short film takes place in an alley, very Batman if you ask me.

It also matches the tone of the Alien and Predator movies.

Finally, Batman would be the perfect opponent for a Predator.

He would see Batman as the pinnacle specimen of the human race.

And then there’s the fact that Batman wouldn’t shy away from the challenge.

What I’d love to see is someone like Matt Reeves get his hands on this potential Batman: Dead End Hollywood movie.

He would then have Robert Pattinson starring as Batman.

I’m pretty sure someone of Reeves’ talent would be able to make this movie work perfectly.

The one thing that this short really lacks in Batman using his gadgets and detective skills.

I think Pattinson’s Batman will rely heavily on his gadgets and intellect.

He would probably face the Predator or an Alien once and then escape, track them and work out what their weaknesses are.

That would make of a fascinating final encounter between Batman, the alien and Predator.

The one thing I would be sure would happen is that the Alien would be despatched pretty quickly, only for Bruce and the Predator to discover that it was just the tip fo the iceberg.

It would end with Xenomorphs emerging from Gotham’s sewers and then Batman and Predator might have to work together to defeat them.

It could all begin with Bruce trying to solve the mystery of Gotham’s many disappearances over the past few months.

He’d then find out that Xenomorphs had been kidnapping humans to then use them as incubators for their young.
