Avengers: Endgame’s director, Joe Russo, has admitted that casting the next Wolverine in the MCU is a bit like casting the next Batman. He revealed this during a recent interview with Light Camera Barstool.
It’s going to be a viurtually impossible task to try and replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. However, Marvel Studios is going to have to try and pull off the impossible because Jackman’s called it quits on playing the role.
Joe Russo recently likened trying to recast Wolverine akin to attempting to cast a new Batman. It’s not an easy thing to do, but if anyone can do it, Marvel Studios can.

Here’s what Joe Russo had to say about casting the MCU’s Wolverine, which won’t be easy since Hugh Jackman was just so perfect for the role:
To realize him on screen, it’s very hard because Hugh Jackman’s performance is definitive. It’s like Batman; you have to really think of a way to, you have to really find the right actor to come in and give a really different take to that character. But I would really love to see him on screen.
He then went on to clarify that this was a decision that Marvel Studios should take some time with. Here’s what he added:
I think the best thing is to take a break, without question. You need a [palate cleanser], you need to rinse the towel a little bit, let everyone enjoy what was, and then come up with something new. But I’d love to take a crack at Wolverine at some point.
