It’s been revealed that both Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel have made it onto the Oscars shortlists, we just don’t know which awards they’re up for yet, but it will most likely be more technical awards.
There’s been a lot of chatter that Robert Downey Jr. might be up for a Best Actor award at 2020’s Oscars, however, I highly doubt that will happen because that category is very strong this year.
It has to be said that these Oscars shortlists aren’t the actual nominations, but The Hollywood Reporter did reveal which films are being considered for awards at the 2020 awards ceremony.
The voting period for those doesn’t actually begin until January 2nd before closing on the 7th, so it’s still pretty early days as far as the final nominations are concerned.
The Oscars is the biggest night of the year in the movie industry, however, it doesn’t really matter to movies such as Avengers: Endgame because they’ve already made a bucket load of cash at the box office.
However, it’s more a question of pride and Marvel Studios and Disney getting their movies even more recognition from other important people in the industry.

As far as which Oscar shortlists Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel have made Endgame is on the shortlists for both Music (Original Score) and Visual Effects, while Captain Marvel is also up for Visual Effects.
Black Panther became the first Marvel Studios movie to be nominated for a Best Picture award at 2019’s Oscars, and the film also won the Oscar for Best Original Score.
Marvel Studios will be hoping they can go one better with Avengers: Endgame and come away with the Best Picture award.
That said, I highly doubt that will happen.
