Armie Hammer is claiming that he was sexually abused by a pastor at 13 years of age and has added that he contemplated suicide after the recent rape allegations that were made against him. The movie star has been keeping a low profile over the past few months.

However, the The Man Of U.N.C.L.E. actor has come out swinging in a recent interview, and it seems as though he is placing a lot of the blame on his sexual behaviour at the feet of his youth pastor.

In an interview with the digital newsletter Air Mail, Hammer revealed what he called his side of the story for the first time. Air Mail reports that Armie Hammer told two people about his childhood abuse, and the publication states it managed to corroborate his account with his godmother.

Here’s what Hammer had to say about what happened to him as a child and how it affected him later on in adult life:

What that did for me was it introduced sexuality into my life in a way that it was completely out of my control. I was powerless in the situation. I had no agency in the situation. Sexuality was introduced to me in a scary way where I had no control. My interests then went to: I want to have control in the situation, sexually.

It has to be made very clear here that Armie Hammer was accused in 2021 of sexual abuse and improper behaviour by numerous women. Those reports ended up spiralling on social media, and it ended up putting The Social Media actor out of work.

Armie Hammer hasn’t appeared in a single movie since the allegations were made, and he was sacked from a number of upcoming projects. There were even reports that Hammer was working a desk job at one point whilst he was recovering in a facility on the Cayman Islands.

Armie Hammer was also dropped by his agency, WME. One of the movies that he was fired from was Jennifer Lopez’s Shotgun Wedding, which has recently been released on Prime Video.

Moreover, a docuseries called House Of Hammer was released on Discovery Plus last year, and it chronicled Hammer’s downfall with a handful of his accusers publicly coming forward on-camera. Hammer has since talked about how he contemplated suicide as his life unravelled.

Will he ever work again?

Here’s what Armie Hammer had to say on the matter:

I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark. Then I realized that my kids were still on shore, and that I couldn’t do that to my kids.

Armie Hammer was married to TV host Elizabeth Chambers for ten years. However, they announced their split before the allegations came out against Hammer. The couple shares two young children.

After reading his interview, I have to say that Hammer does a lot to try and undermine the nature of the allegations, and he paints a very different picture than what was set forth by his accusers.

I’m not going to go into everything that he said in the interview, but what I will say is that there was a pretty damning allegation made against the actor from a woman who was only referred to as ‘Effie’.

She accused the actor of violently raping her. This led to the LAPD investigation. Effie is behind the Instagram account “House of Effie,” which first posted shocking allegations against Hammer, garnering widespread attention in early 2021.

In the interview, Armie Hammer acknowledged that “the power dynamics were off” and admitted “one million percent” that he was emotionally abusive towards both women. He added:

I would have these younger women in their mid-20s, and I’m in my 30s. I was a successful actor at the time. They could have been happy to just be with me and would have said yes to things that maybe they wouldn’t have said yes to on their own. That’s an imbalance of power in the situation.

Hammer denied criminal wrongdoing, and he claimed that his behaviour and subsequent accusations to being “an asshole.” He added:

I’m here to own my mistakes, take accountability for the fact that I was an asshole, that I was selfish, that I used people to make me feel better, and when I was done, moved on. I’m now a healthier, happier, more balanced person. I’m able to be there for my kids in a way I never was…I’m truly grateful for my life and my recovery and everything. I would not go back and undo everything that’s happened to me.

Hammer then said that he has improved through his recovery and is now working as a sober companion to a fellow recovering addict out of rehab.
