When’s Aquaman 2 Release Date And Who Will Be In The Cast?
This is a question quite a few DC Comics movie fans have. When is Aquaman 2’s release date going to be?
So, as it stands, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment have set Aquaman 2’s release date as December 16, 2022.
However, that date could very easily be pushed and there’s one very simple reason for that: Amber Heard.
Aquaman 2 will see James Wan return as the film’s director, which isn’t surprising given what a good job he did on the first movie.
However, according to his IMDB page he won’t be writing this film.
They have David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick down as the film’s scriptwriter.
However, they also have Amber Heard down as being in the film’s cast as Mera.
Who will direct Aquaman 2?
As of writing this article, it’s still unsure whether she will return as Mera, but more on that later.
Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the first Aquaman film’s screenplay along with Will Beall.
They were working off a story from Wan, Geoff Johns and Beal himself.
It turned out to be a pretty good movie, so I’m assuming they’ll do something similar for the sequel.
It just hasn’t been officially announced yet.
I’m pretty sure more will be announced on Aquaman 2 very shortly.
Who will be in Aquaman 2’s cast?
Now, as for the film’s cast, this is still a pretty big mystery.
The film’s cast hasn’t been officially revealed yet, unlike Aquaman 2’s release date.
As of yet, the only member of the cast we can be sure is coming back is Jason Momoa as Aquaman himself.
The rest of the film’s cast is still a bit up in the air.
The big question mark is over Amber Heard’s head as Mera.
There have been calls for Warner Bros. Pictures to remove her from the film after recent developments in her case with Johnny Depp.
Recent phone calls between the two were leaked and it doesn’t sound too good for Heard.
Anyway, we also don’t know whether Patrick Wilson, Willem Dafoe or Nicole Kidman will return in Aquaman 2.
What will the story be?
As for Aquaman 2′s story, that is also a mystery.
One thing we can guess at is Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta returning to the sequel to enact his revenge upon Aquaman.
Apart from that, there hasn’t been any talk from anyone involved in the picture what the movie might be about.
They haven’t even mentioned any comics as inspiration for the film’s story.
This might be because the movie’s being written as we speak.
So, until the script is finalised, we won’t really know anything more about what the film will be about or who will be in it.
There are a whole load of characters they could take of the comics who haven’t been introduced in the DCEU yet.
It would be fun to see the writers explore some of Aquaman’s crazier side characters and villains.
What do you think will happen in Aquaman 2 and do you think its release date will be pushed back?
