Should Disney Rehire Johnny Depp As Captain Jack Sparrow In Pirates Of The Caribbean 6?
Johnny Depp is currently emboilled in a nasty court case with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Heard made allegations against her ex-husband claiming that he was an abuser.
She claimed that he hit her repeatedly during their marriage and also claimed he threw a phone at her face.
All these allegations looked terrible for Depp and they cost him multiple jobs.
One of those jobs was a very lucrative one for Depp, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Disney ended up parting ways with Johnny Depp after Amber Heard’s allegations.
That meant we were never going to get to see him play Captain Jack Sparrow again.
Why did Disney fire Johnny Depp from the Pirates movies?
To begin with, I agreed with Disney’s decision because the allegations made against him weren’t pretty.
However, there have been new developments in the Depp vs Heard case and things are looking very different now.
Depp constantly claimed his innocence and ended up taking his ex-wife to court.
A lot’s been said in the Depp vs Heard court case and there have been leaked phone calls between the two recently.
These phone calls seem to put Heard’s domestic abuse allegations into question.
I can’t really comment on the current court case because it’s ongoing.
However, leaked court documents claim that Amber Heard defecated on Johnny Depp’s bed.
They also claim she hit his for turning up late to her birthday party.
Does this prove Depp’s innocence? I’m not so sure.
We can’t really say anything until a final decision’s been made.
However, there have been other allegations made against Depp for violent behaviour towards people.
Depp has been violent towards other people in the past
Back in July 2018, Depp was sued for allegedly punching a crew member twice whilst on set.
It was reported that he punched the crew member in the ribs during a foul-mouthed tirade.
Court documents stated that the actor “reeked of alcohol” and took drugs on set.
This could be reason enough not to hire Depp since he might pose a risk to his fellow cast and the film’s crew.
In my opinion, this court case is a much more convincing reason not to bring Depp back into the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
This wasn’t also the first time Depp found himself in trouble for violent behaviour.
Johnny Depp was arrested in Vancouver back in 1989 for assaulting a security guard after the police were called to end a loud party at his hotel room.
He was also arrested in New York City in 1994 after causing significant damage to his room at The Mark Hotel.
The charges were eventually dropped against him after he agreed to pay US$9,767 in damages.
Depp was then arrested yet again in 1999 for brawling with paparazzi outside a restaurant while dining in London with Paradis.
Why would Disney rehire Depp?
It really isn’t a good look for Depp, however, there are ways he could convince Disney he’s changed his ways.
He has also had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.
So, would Disney really be convinced to rehire Depp after all of this?
In my opinion, and again, this is my opinion, I’m not sure Disney will be convinced to bring back Depp.
There are a few things that could convince them to bring Depp back as Captain Jack Sparrow.
First off, he could still be a big box office pull.
The fact that over 147,000 people have signed the petition asking Disney to rehire Depp for the Pirates movie is proof that he has a lot of fans out there.
Then, there’s also the fact that no one can play Jack Sparrow like Depp.
How could Depp be rehired as Jack Sparrow?
Over the years, he’s made the role his own and is basically the reason the Pirates movies made any money.
People love him as Jack Sparrow and he is the franchise’s biggest pull.
Disney could also be convinced to rehire Depp if he can prove he’s changed his ways.
It’s a very difficult situation for everybody involved, and all we can do is wait and see what happens.
There are plenty of people out there who are desperate to see Depp play Jack Sparrow again.
However, we have to have the complete story out there before any decision can be made.
There’s a lot of evidence for and against bringing Depp back to the Pirates franchise.
What do you make of this? Should Johnny Depp be brought back as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise?
