Will Smith’s Bright 2 Could Start Filming Later This Year

The sequel to the 2017 film Bright (aka Bright 2), could begin shooting later this year, according to an insider.

According to a post on insider Daniel Richtman’s Patreon, the film could begin production later this year, but so far, nothing has yet been officially confirmed by Netflix.

The original film starred Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as a pair of police offers, one a human and the other an orc, fighting against corruption in a fantasy world that sees humans and mystical creatures co-exist.

No word on when the cameras will start rolling on Bright 2…

It was first reported last year that The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier had been hired to replace David Ayer in the director’s chair, with T.S. Nowlin being brought on to refine the script that was originally written by Ayer and Evan Spiliotopoulos.

Interestingly, Leterrier has already worked with Netflix, directing all ten episodes of the The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance series for the studio, which makes the radio silence surrounding the potential Bright sequel intriguing.

Smith is still shooting the slavery drama Emancipation, directed by Antoine Fuqua, nothing has yet been officially announced by Netflix.

Perhaps, once production on Emancipation has wrapped, there might be some announcements from Netflix to see if a Bright sequel will move forward after all.
