Wesley Snipes Rumoured To Be In Talks To Play The Villain In The MCU Blade Movie

Wesley Snipes Blade Dracula Reboot Marvel

It’s being rumoured that Wesley Snipes is now in talks with Marvel to play the villain in the upcoming Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali. This scoop comes from Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton and I think it would make a lot of sense to have him be in the movie.

Wesley Snipes was the first person to play Blade in live-action ever. Even though Mahershala Ali will be playing the role next, it doesn’t mean Snipes can’t be in the movie. Those early Blade movies were, in my mind, some of the best and most forward-thinking comic book movies ever made.

We still haven’t really seen a comic book movie recapture the mood of those first Blade films. I especially love Blade 2 which was directed by the now Oscar-winning director, Guillermo del Toro.

Before this scoop was posted, there were rumours that Wesley Snipes might be up for the role of Dracula in the movie. However, I’m so sure that would be the best role for him to play.

That said, I’m not totally against the idea of having Snipes play Dracula or a ‘Dracula-like’ character in the upcoming Blade movie. I think seeing him play an evil vampire would be great fun.

Sutton does state that he’s in contention for two roles: either Dracula, or that of Abraham Whistler. Whistler is Blade’s mentor, and I would love to see him play the role.

That said, Snipes has been showing his range recently as an actor. Just check out his incredible performance in Netflix’s Dolemite Is My Name. I think he would be great as the film’s villain.
