The Mandalorian Season 3 Casts Sophie Thatcher In An Undisclosed Role

It’s been revealed that Lucasfilm and Disney have cast American actress Sophie Thatcher in The Mandalorian Season 3. It’s still not clear yet in which role she’s been cast.

This news was revealed by Deadline and they didn’t give any details regarding which character she might be playing in the upcoming season of the very first live-action Star Wars series of all time. What’s interesting is that she’s already worked with the show’s lead, Pedro Pascal, before.

They starred in the 2018 Netflix film, Prospect, which didn’t get as much love as it deserved when it came out. She played Cee in the movie, which was a science-fiction film written and directed by Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell.

It tells the story of a teenage girl (Cee) and her father (Jay Duplass) travelling to an alien moon with a contract to mine gems in the moon’s poisonous forest. However, things start to go very wrong when the father is overcome by greed and they end up encountering dangerous strangers in the moon’s forest.

It’s a really good little science-fiction movie which I think you should check out on Netflix when you have a spare moment. And, let’s face it, we have a lot of spare time these days.

Anyway. back to Thatcher and her possible role in The Mandalorian Season 3. As far as I’m aware, she won’t be playing a character we know from the Star Wars animated shows. I’ve asked and looked around and as far as I can tell, she’s going to be playing a new Star Wars character, which is reason enough to be excited.

I always love it when they make a new Star Wars character and don’t overly rely on bringing in characters from the other films and TV shows.

As for when The Mandalorian Season 3 will go into production, Jon Favreau did claim that he wanted to get production underway towards the end of 2020, yet that could be pushed into 2021.
