WB To Cast Black British Actor As Constantine In HBO Max Series

Warner Bros is reportedly looking to cast a Black British actor as Constantine in the new series for HBO Max.

This is according to a new post on insider Daniel Richtman’s Patreon.

The casting grid that Richtman shared stated that Warner Bros/DC are seeking a Black British actor in their late 20’s for the lead role of Constantine.

Now, Constantine has always been played by a white actor.

Keanu Reeves played him in the movie, and Matt Ryan played John Constantine in The CW shows.

Ryan has been a favourite of the fans for quite some time now.

He played Constantine in DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow.

Ryan also had his own show for a while before it was cancelled.

This would be a departure from previous incarnations of the character.

The show will reportedly focus more on horror elements, and less so on the character’s religious elements.

Guy Bolton set to write the series, which will be produced by Bad Robot Productions.

The post also reveals that the current title of the show is Justice League Dark: Constantine.

Played by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 film, the character was then played by Matt Ryan in the Constantine TV series.

Ryan reprised the role in the fourth season of Arrow, and once more in the third season of Legends of Tomorrow.
