Warner Bros. Pictures Delays Dune Release Date To 2021

It’s been revealed that Warner Bros. Pictures has opted to delay the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movie to Oct. 1, 2021.

This really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Almost all the movies that were slated to come out in 2020 have been pushed to 2021 or even 2021 in some cases.

Dune was one of the last big blockbuster movies to be holding onto a 2020 release in December.

Another movie, which is still slated to come out later this year is Wonder Woman 1984.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that film get pushed into 2021 also.

The news of Dune being delayed into 2021 was revealed by Collider last night.

This news comes after it was revealed that Cineworld would be closing almost all of its cinemas in the UK and the US.

They own the Regal Cinemas in the US and the decision to close all their sites came after it was revealed that Universal Pictures was delaying the released of No Time To Die to April 2021.

This pandemic has been incredibly tough on cinemas who’ve been starved of blockbuster releases.

The only big tentpole movie that has come out in the past few months has been Tenet.

However, the film didn’t do as well as Warner Bros. Pictures wanted it too.

Therefore, they’ve taken the decision not to release any movies this year – apart from Wonder Woman 1989 at the moment.

Honestly, I think movie studios really need to step up.

What will they do if cinemas all go out of business?

They need to support the cinemas, especially independent cinemas which are all about to go out of business.

What do you make of this news?

Are you surprised to hear that Warner Bros. has delayed Dune to 2021?

Or, like me, was this totally expected?
