Tom Cruise Will Stop Doing Mission: Impossible Movies After The Eighth Film In The Franchise

Tom Cruise has been playing Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible movies for years now, and it did seem like he was going to do them forever.

However, there are reports suggesting that the actor might opt to hang up his boots after the eight Mission: Impossible movie.

Just in case you’re not totally sure how many Mission: Impossible films that would leave because it’s getting rather hard to remember which number we’re on after they got rid of the numbered naming system, here’s a little refresher for you guys.

OK, so we started off with Mission: Impossible in 1996, then we got Mission: Impossible 2 in 2000. That was followed up with J.J. Abrams’ Mission: Impossible 3 in 2006.

In 2011, they opted to forgot the numbered naming system as they released Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (directed by Brad Bird).

After that came Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation in 2015, which was Christopher McQuarrie’s first movie in the first. He then returned to the movie franchise to direct the latest film, and in my opinion the best so far, Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018.

Tom Cruise is going to do two more Mission: Impossible movies

The next Mission: Impossible movie, which is just being referred to at the moment at Mission: Impossible 7, will be hitting cinemas in 2021, and according to We Got This Covered’s sources, Tom Cruise is considering doing one more after that and then calling it a day (albeit a very long one).

Tom Cruise has already don six of these movies, and they’re working on the seventh which will also be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who’s also writing the script.

That is insanity that Cruise can still be starring in these movies, and the fact that he often does the stunt himself just proves how mad this all is

Tom Cruise is now 57-year-old. The fact that he’s still able to do these movies is pure madness, so I completely understand why he would make Mission: Impossible 8 his final movie in the franchise.
