Tiger King’s Carole Baskin’s Husband Might Be Alive

It’s been revealed that Carole Baskin, the woman from the popular Netflix series, Tiger King, might not have killed her husband after all. I think the whole world believed that she did kill her husband, Don Lewis, but it sounds as though he might still be alive.

The show focused mostly on Joe Exotic. However, some of the episodes put the spotlight on his biggest rival, Carole Baskin. Actually, I think calling them ‘rivals’ is wrong. Exotic just hated Baskin and kept on making claims online that she had killed her former husband.

Exotic was telling his online followers that Baskin had killed her former husband and fed him to her big cats. This is a theory that ended up getting a lot of traction online and people to this day still believe that she did actually kill her husband.

Baskin has always claimed that she’s innocent and she’s now saying that Don lives a quiet life in Costa Rica. Back in 2021, Baskin told ITV’s This Morning that the Department of Homeland Security had contacted her to reveal Lewis’ whereabouts — and that he has been quietly living in Costa Rica.

Is Carole Baskin’s husband actually alive and well?

Here’s what she had to say to the outlet at the time:

They said my husband, Don Lewis, is alive and well in Costa Rica. And yet all of this drama has been made about me having something to do with his disappearance, when Homeland Security has known where he is.

Baskin then added that she “didn’t think he was capable of supporting himself.” She then claimed: “he took about a million dollars down to Costa Rica, I had agreed to let him do that so he could prove to himself that he could make a living.”

Why didn’t Carole Baskin want to appear in Tiger King 2?

According to Baskin, the first inkling of the Department of Homeland Security’s investigation actually appeared in Tiger King 2. This was the follow-up to the series that premiered on Netflix in late 2021.

Here’s what she had to say on the matter:

One of the really exciting things that came out of Tiger King 2 is that they produced a letter from Homeland Security and it says that a special agent in charge with the FBI at Homeland Security reached out to the sheriff’s detective George [Jorge] Fernandez, which means this had to have happened after 2002, because Homeland Security wasn’t even around until 2002.

However, even though the show’s second season feature some positive developments for Baskin in clearing her name, she didn’t actually make an appearance in Tiger King 2.

She even attempted to stop the second season from being released on Netflix. Here’s what she had to say on the matter during an interview with ComicBook.com:

My family would absolutely not have participated at all if they knew that we were going to be betrayed that way. But I feel like everything happens for the good, and that even though it was really hard to live through so much of that right after Tiger King because people were so misled, they felt like they had the absolute right to make things right because they thought that I was this horrible person that should be brought to justice and that Joe should be freed.
