The Witcher Season 4 & 5 Greenlit By Netflix

The Witcher Season 4 and Season 5 have been greenlit by Netflix, and it’s also been revealed that they will be filmed back to back. This news was revealed by Redanian Intelligence, and I think this is the best thing for Netflix to do as The Witcher is easily one of the best shows on their streaming platform. It was revealed not too long ago that the third season of the show had wrapped filming.

Before I go into what this new report states, I do want to make it very clear that we revealed that season four was already in development over at Netflix back in January 2022. It was revealed to us that Netflix had plans to make at least two more seasons of the show after The Witcher Season 3. Here’s what our insider had to say about seasons four and five being in the works:

We have plans for at least two more seasons of the main show.

This is pretty much what Redanian Intelligence had to say about the upcoming seasons of the Henry Cavill-lead series. So, they are currently in post-production for Season 3 of the Netflix series. The recently wrapped on Season 3 and the third season will see the likes of Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan all return to their respective roles in the Netflix series.

A few months back, one of the directors on the series, Stephen Surjik, revealed that season four of The Witcher was already being mapped out by the producers of the show. During an interview with Brigade-Radio-One, Surjik, who directed the first two episodes of The Witcher Season 2, confirmed he would be doing the same for Season 3.

However, he also confirmed season four was in the planning stages, though admitted he isn’t sure if those plans involve him. “The writers and producers mapped out season four,” Surjik said. He then added: “I don’t know if I’m part of that mapping program, but at least they told me that they’re mapping it out.”

Netflix is filming the next seasons back to back

So, going back to Redanian Intelligence’s report has revealed that the next two seasons will be filmed back to back, which I think is a really good idea. The series isn’t an easy or cheap one to shoot. They’ve also proven to be rather difficult seasons to film. They’ve been plagued by Covid-19 issues, and Henry Cavill also ended up getting injured whilst filming Season 2. So, it seems as though they want to get everything shot and then they can work on seasons 4 and 5 in post-production at the same time.

I do believe this is the best way to go, and it means that we are going to get to watch at least three more seasons of this hit Netflix series. I think this is terrific news, and I cannot wait to see what ends up happening with this series. I’m pretty sure we’re going to be getting more spinoff shows. We’ve already got one spinoff series coming, called The Witcher: Blood Origins. I’m thinking that we might get more, and maybe even a The Witcher movie that will end Geralt Of Rivia’s story.
