Is The Innocent Season 2 In The Works For Netflix?

The-Innocent-Season-2

The Innocent has been a huge hit on Netflix in May and fans are already wondering when Season 2 will be released on the streaming platform.

Well, there’s still nothing official about a second season from Netflix.

There’s also the fact that The Innocent is based on a book by Harlan Coben, and the eight-episode series was always meant to be a miniseries.

However, that hasn’t stopped Netflix from green lighting a second season of a miniseries in the past.

There are rumours that The Queen’s Gambit Season 2 is going to happen, despite the fact that it was meant to be a limited series.

That said, it does look like The Innocent Season 2 is a bit of a stretch, even though the series has been hugely popular on Netflix.

Here’s the show’s official plot synopsis from Netflix:

One night, Matt innocently tried to break up a fight and ended up an homicide. Now, nine years later, he’s trying to start from scratch with Olivia, his wife. A shocking call from Olivia’s phone while she’s on a business trip unsettles Matt, and he will start a frenetic race to discover the truth. His innocence will be questioned again, this time by Lorena, a police inspector investigating a suicide case.

The show is in the Spanish language and it’s yet another Spanish show that’s proven to be very popular on Netflix.

The Innocent stars Mario Casas as Mateo Vidal, a lawyer who accidentally kills a man outside a nightclub.

Ana Wagener and Aura Garrido play Sonia and Olivia respectively.

The fact that this show is based on a standalone book and not a series leads me to believe that there won’t be a Season 2.

Why is The Innocent Season 2 unlikely?

However, even though Netflix green lighting The Innocent for a Season 2 is unlikely, it doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

I think that Netflix is constantly looking at the data, and I’m sure it would be very positive for this series.

If you were to take the top ten TV shows in May as an example, then The Innocent Season 2 would be a no-brainer.

The first season is in second place worldwide for the month of May.

It was hugely popular in most Spanish-speaking countries around the world, but also in places such as France, Portugal and Croatia.
