It’s now been revealed that The CW has opted to cancel the Wonder Girl series even before the series started filming. This news was revealed via Yahoo! Finance, and I’m sure that many fans will be both upset and rather puzzled by this decision.

Wonder Girl was going to be part of the Arrowverse and was based on a comic books series that DC Comic haven’t actually released yet. But, it sounds like The CW wasn’t really confident in the series as they’re decided to cancel it before it went into production.

Wonder Girl is a DC Comics character created by Joëlle Jones and the story centres on Yara Flor, who’s a young Latina girl who’s the daughter of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God. Joëlle then discovers that she has incredible powers and ends up fighting evil forces that want to destroy the world.

This news comes after The CW opted to greenlight another DC project, Ava DuVernay’s Naomi. They also ordered a live-action reboot of The Powerpuff Girls from Diablo Cody and Berlanti Productions.

Wonder Girl would have marked the first Latina superhero title character of a DC TV series.

So some sad news. For all of those asking, Wonder Girl is not getting picked up at the CW. I was very proud of the script I wrote. Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me.
