Episode 3 of Sweet Tooth Season 1 sees the plot ramped up a gear and we are introduced to even more new characters. Tommy still just wants to get rid of Gus but tries to get him to Colorado.

While Doctor Singh has taken over from Dr Bell but still can’t do what she did for the medicine.

Gus (Christian Convery) and Tommy (Nonso Anozie) are still together but not for long if Tommy can help it.

We are discovering how dangerous the world is for a hybrid as each episode progresses and the tension raises as we don’t want Gus to get caught.

I am very interested to know what pills Tommy takes as he seems addicted to them and will do almost anything to get them, even risk Gus being discovered.

In this episode, Tommy tries to get Gus onto a train to Colorado but obviously, nothing was ever as easy as that and Gus true identity is revealed.

I do like the dynamic between Convery and Anozie because their characters are polar opposites.

Gus is pure and innocent while Tommy is full of fear and possibly regret for what he has done in his life.

Their relationship feels like an uncle and nephew kind of relationship, they aren’t really that close but there is something there between them because they trust and watch out for one another.

However, all Tommy wants to do is get rid of Gus because he knows the dangers of being associated with hybrids.

It’ll be interesting to see if Tommy will continue to feel like this for the rest of the season or will he have a change of heart.

Meanwhile, Aditya Singh (Adeel Akhtar) has taken over Dr Bells work and prays he can keep his wife alive long enough to see a vaccine through to completion.

Aditya wife, Rani (Aliza Vellani), is the only patient who has survived the virus thanks to the medicine because for many the medicine hasn’t worked.

Dr Bell left all her journals about her work to Aditya however there are methods she has used that Aditya can’t bring himself to do.

We see a small glimpse of her journal and we saw the words “hybrid” and “dissection”, alongside drawings of bones and cells.

We can assume that hybrid experimentation has been involved and could that be the only way to cure humans from the virus.

However, Aditya wants to find an alternative way but is there?

My gut is telling me that the hybrids could be the answer to the cure of the virus but at what cost, especially as the new round of medication isn’t working on Rani since Aditya took over.

I really like watching Adeel Akhtar because he has made his character really believable.

I really believe that he loves and cares for his wife.

He doesn’t appear to handle pressure very well which may play a factor as the plot moves along.

He seems adamant that he won’t use hybrid testing which may cause confrontation from other characters and if his wife gets sicker this could sway his decision.

However, I like Aditya because he is a simple man who loves his wife and wants to keep her alive.

This episode gives the audience an insight into what life is like in the community and how survivors deal with life.

Aditya and Rani attend a Survivors Party but the attendees are consumed with fear; they have burnt neighbours houses down for not attending the parties or if you have the virus you are trapped in your home and burnt.

It is a very dark interpretation of what life would be like but I think it shows how scared people are of any new waves.

Also, as society doesn’t really exist anymore, they can get away with doing what they think is the right thing to do.

With these episodes so far, I’ve really liked how they have all been bookmarked at the beginning and at the end of the episode with the same characters.

In episode two we met Aimee at the start of the episode and at the end, but she didn’t appear at any time throughout only at the start and the end.

In this episode we meet the Animal Army at the start and in the end, they save Tommy and Gus.

Their leader appears to be a really friendly and powerful character and now I’m really intrigued to know more about her and her journey to see how she got where she is now.

At the end of this episode, we are finally introduced to General Abbot (Neil Sandilands) how appears to be the head of the people to fear.

However, he is after someone who has something to do with the hybrid sanctuary.

Who is ‘her’?

We can only assume it is the leader of the Animal Army but why is she so important.

We know she is a leader but surely, she can’t be the leader of the sanctuary.

We are left with many questions which is what makes this show exciting because now we want to find out what is next.

The plot behind this season has been really interesting so far as there are lots of mysteries that keep you interested to want to watch the next episode.

Soon all these storylines from Gus and Tommy to the Animal Army, Dr Singh and Rani and Aimee have to start connecting together for us to understand why they have all been introduced.

They are all important in some way and all must be connected by some cause which we are still waiting to uncover.

This world consists of everyone fearing for their lives as no one is living anymore just trying to survive.

Episode 3 steps up the plot again and adds to the tension of what could happen next as we end on a cliffhanger.

More new characters are introduced but nothing feels rushed and we end this episode wanting to know what will happen next.
