Ron Perlman has made the case for Hellboy fans to get that third installment (Hellboy 3) in the trilogy.
In an interview with The Independent, the veteran actor has third chapter in the Guillermo del Toro directed trilogy.
Perlman played the titular character in Hellboy and its sequel, which were released in 2004 and 2008 respectively.
Perlman pleads with del Toro to make Hellboy 3 happen
Despite interest from del Toro for a third film, it never came to be.
Instead the franchise was rebooted in 2019, with David Harbour in the lead role.
However, the reboot was mauled by critics upon release, and fans were left to wonder what might have been.
Now, Perlman has spoken up, saying that he wants to see the trilogy completed for the sake of the fans:
We owe this to the fans, and we should give it to them because it would be an epic conclusion. So Guillermo, if you’re reading, I’m not done pounding you to get this f**king thing done.
When asked if he’d done the horns once more, Perlman’s answer was pretty conclusive:
Am I eager to do Hellboy 3? No, I’m 71 f***ing years old.
Perlman is definitely, nothing if not passionate.
It’s evident he enjoyed making the first two films with del Toro and wants to see that trilogy be completed.
It would be the best gift for fans, and to wash away memories of the reboot, which was far far below the quality of del Toro’s films.
