Pierce Brosnan has teased that fans should get to see more of him playing the DC Comics character Doctor Fate after his incredible performance in Black Adam. This was revealed in a recent interview with USA Today. Let’s go over what was revealed about Doctor Fate’s future in the DC Universe.

Before we continue with this article, we have to give you a SPOILER ALERT right here. We will discuss what happens at the end of the Black Adam movie. OK, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. The first person to talk about Doctor Fate’s future in this recent interview with USA Today was Black Adam’s director, Jaume Collet-Serra. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

He’s doing all of those things at once and that weakens him, his powers are split up. Dr. Fate turned that into a future where he died instead, sacrificed himself so Hawkman could live. He potentially could have beaten Sabbac. But in that present prophecy, that would have meant that somehow Hawkman would have died. That’s what he’s trying to prevent.

The director then went on to say:

There is a moment of acceptance that his time has come. That last look is accepting his fate, which is a beautiful thing from Dr. Fate.

Collet-Serra then went on to add:

The helmet chooses who it lets touch. And at the end of the movie, the helmet chooses Hawkman.

He then compared Nelson to Obi-Wan Kenobi, saying that Doctor Fate is “a bit like Obi-Wan Kenobi who dies in the first Star Wars and yet appears in every Star Wars. So we’ll all see what happens.”

So, it seems like Brosnan’s Doctor Fate could return in the movies in the same way Obi-Wan Kenobi did after being struck down by Darth Vader’s lightsaber in A New Hope. Kenobi returned as a Force ghost in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi. It sounds as though they have something similar in mind for Brosnan’s Doctor Fate.

Here’s what Brosnan revealed producer Beau Flynn told him about Doctor Fate’s potential return. Brosnan said that “not everything is as it seems” when it comes to Doctor Fate. He continued:

So I think the door is open. I honestly have no idea where this will go. I just know I’m very proud of the work playing Dr. Fate and honored being part of the DC comic book world.

I think that this all sound very promising, and I’m pretty sure that many people who’ve watched the Black Adam movie in cinemas would be desperate to see more of the iconic actor’s take on Doctor Fate in future DC Comics movies. We’re going to have to wait and see what ends up happening.

Black Adam is currently available to watch in cinemas worldwide right now. Have you seen it yet?
