It’s been revealed that Peaky Blinders creator, Steven Knight, gave in a script treatment for Man Of Steel 2, but it ended up being rejected by Warner Bros. Pictures executives. This comes as a bit of a surprise to me because Knight is an excellent scriptwriter and a wonderful creative. I’m very, very interested in learning more about what his vision for Superman was.

This news comes to us via The Hollywood Reporter. Knight’s script failed to set Warner Bros. Pictures’ executives alight. The report revealed that his treatment was rejected out of hand, and Warners’ executives reportedly gave him notes on how to improve his treatment.

This comes as surprise to me since Knight has written pretty incredible scripts over the years, and I would have thought that his idea of Man Of Steel 2 would have been brilliant. Knight wrote the scripts for Peaky Blinders, Spencer and Eastern Promises. They are all brilliant scripts.

Unfortunately, before Knight could improve his script, it was announced that Warner Bros Discovery had created a new division called DC Studios that was going to be led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. They would oversee all future DC Universe projects, including anything to do with Superman.

What does this mean for Henry Cavill and his version of Superman?

All of this meant that the studio never officially greenlit the movie, and Cavill is left in limbo after having announced his involvement in both a film that does not exist, with a character that may be recast, and whose only upcoming appearance is set to be a cameo in The Flash, which opens next summer.

It’s also been reported that his cameo in the Andy Muschietti Flash movie might have been cut from the theatrical version of the movie. However, that is only a rumour at the moment. Fingers crossed James Gunn and Peter Safran have something incredible in mind for Cavill’s version of Superman!
