Knives Out’s New Trailer Has Landed And Rian Johnson’s Murder Mystery Thriller Looks Very Good

“When people get desperate, the knives come out.” This is the line that stuck out the most to me in the new trailer for Rian Johnson’s upcoming murder mystery thriller, Knives Out.

Already this film looks brilliant on paper. The writer/director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Brick and Looper. A frankly ludicrously talented cast, and it’s a murder mystery. Count me in!

Knives Out’s very first trailer had me begging for more, and the second trailer duly delivered more. It shows a lot more of the film’s tension, and more interestingly, Daniel Craig’s excentric Detective Benoit Blanc.

The film is clearly an homage to Agatha Christie’s murder mystery novels, which is something I’ve been craving for more since Kenneth Brannagh’s Murder On The Orient Express came out a few years back.

They don’t make films like this any more and it really is a shame, but it does mean that we get someone of Johnson’s talents taking on the genre, which should result in an interesting picture.

I’m expecting lots of twists and turns in Knives Out, and the new trailer certainly suggests that’s going to be the case.

Knives Out’s synopsis is as follows:

When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.

You can’t talk about Knives Out without listing the film’s cast, which I would argue is one of the best ever assembled on-screen. There’s really someone for everyone there.

The cast includes Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Plummer, Don Johnson, Noah Segan, Edi Patterson, Riki Lindhome, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Michael Shannon.

You’ve got Captain America. You’ve got James Bond. You’ve got Hollywood icons there in such names as Christopher Plummer and Jamie Lee Curtis. You’ve arguably one of the best actors working today in Michael Shannon. And then you have rising stars such as Ana De Armas.

Knives Out has quickly become my most anticipated film of the year, and I cannot wait for it to hit cinemas.

Knives Out will be in UK cinemas on November 29th, 2019. Are you looking forward to seeing the film? Let us know in the comments below or on our Facebook or Instagram pages!
