The First Trailer For Rian Johnson’s Film Knives Out Has Landed And It Boasts An Insane Cast

The trailer for Rian Johnson’s next film, Knives Out, has landed and the film has an incredible cast and promises to be a brilliant Agatha Christie murder mystery of a movie.

Rian Johnson has kept something of a low profile ever since Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out, and it’s not surprising considering how divisive the reaction was to that movie.

Personally, I loved it and I’ve been waiting ever since to see what he would do next. I was hoping that he would get the opportunity to do his new Star Wars trilogy, but that’s not looking very likely anymore.

Anyway, it looks like the director/writer has been working away in the background on something very different to The Last Jedi. The trailer for his upcoming picture, Knives Out, has just been released by Lionsgate, and it looks very interesting indeed.

It’s an Agatha Christie murder mystery film (I love those) in which Daniel Craig plays a detective who’s trying to find out who murdered Christopher Plummer’s Harlan Thrombey.

Yep, it’s a real ‘Whodunnit’ and I can’t recall there being a good one in a while. Murder On The Orient Express was fine, but not exceptional, and Johnson certainly has the ability to make something genuinely interesting and innovative in the genre.

It also boasts a frankly ludicrous cast, which Craig and Plummer being joined by the likes of Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, LaKeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford and Jaeden Martell.

I would hazard a guess at that cast list being the best ensemble of 2019. I can’t think of any other film from this year which has a better one than Knives Out.

Hopefully, the movie will live up to its billing, and the trailer gives it a rather wacky vibe, and to me it looks like Chris Evans might steal the show, as he’s playing very much against type.

Knives Out’s plot is as follows: “When renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday, the inquisitive and debonair Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is mysteriously enlisted to investigate. From Harlan’s dysfunctional family to his devoted staff, Blanc sifts through a web of red herrings and self-serving lies to uncover the truth behind Harlan’s untimely death.”
