John Wick is one of my favourite action franchises around. I think I’d put it in the same category as the Mission: Impossible movies (the recent ones are brilliant), and Keanu Reeves is one of the best action movie stars around (along with Tom Cruise). Anyway, it’s been recently suggested that we might have to wait a while for John Wick: Chapter 4.
Let me start off by saying that John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum was one of my favourite movies of the year. It’s a brilliant action film and packs a real punch, and Keanu Reeves is terrific in it.
So, I was pretty excited when it was announced that Lionsgate had greenlit a fourth movie, yet it’s looking like that sequel might not come out as soon as we hoped it would.
This comes after Lance Reddick, who’s one of the stars of the John Wick franchise (he plays the Continental Hotel concierge Charon), told ComicBook.com that the film might be delayed a bit due to Keanu’s very busy schedule.
Is Keanu Reeves too busy to make John Wick: Chapter 4 at the moment?
Here’s what Lance Reddick had to say on the matter:
Last I heard, there wasn’t a script yet but that was a month ago. I know they’re working on it but part of the problem in terms of scheduling now is that Keanu signed on to do The Matrix 4 and he has the new Bill & Ted coming up. He has three franchises he’s juggling so I’m just not sure if he’s going to do The Matrix 4 or John Wick next.
It really does seem as though Reeves has got an awful lot on his plate right now. As Lance said, he’s got The Matrix 4 and Bill & Ted to come out in the not-so-distant future and those are two very big commitments for the actor.
Then he’s also got this Netflix superhero movie he’s working on with the Russo Brothers, so yeah, he’s got a lot on at the moment.
But, hopefully, he’ll find the time to squeeze John Wick: Chapter 4 in there somewhere.
