John Wick: Chapter 2’s second trailer has arrived and everyone should be excited to see the film. Here are five reasons why.
Everyone is waiting for John Wick. Seriously, they are, and you should be too. Keanu Reeves is back as the titular John Wick in the third and final film of the John Wick franchise. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will see the assassin-gone-rogue go up against a veritable army of other gun-toting maniacs looking for a good payday.
Wick is now ‘excommunicado’ and has a huge bounty on his head ($14 million to be exact), and a lot of people will go to extreme lengths to be the ones to kill the man. However, it won’t be straightforward as John Wick has shown time and time again that he’s rather good at defending himself and knows his way around a gun.
The latest trailer has just landed and here are five reasons why you should be very excited to see the latest chapter in the John Wick saga.
5. John Wick is back!
John Wick is easily one of the best on-screen action heroes we’ve had since Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. However, there’s an edge to him that the likes of Hunt, James Bond and Jason Bourne don’t have. Keanu Reeve’s Wick is brutal, bloody, he plays dirty, is easily better than anyone else with a gun, and does all of this whilst keeping an effortless sense of style.
The character doesn’t say much, and that just adds to his
4. It’s the conclusion of the John Wick saga
There’s also the fact that this will be the last one. This will be the last time filmgoers will get to see Reeve’s John Wick on the big screen, and it’ll probably be a tearful conclusion since there’s only one way this film can end: with John Wick’s death.
It’s hard to hear, but there aren’t many other options left for the former assassin. He’ll probably end up killing everybody and then call it a day on life, which will be sad, but also kind of sweet. He would have succeeded in beating the hoard of assassins hell-bent on killing him and proved that he’s the best.
3. Keanu Reeves is so good at kicking ass
Keanu Reeves has cemented himself as one of the very best action movie stars in Hollywood working today, possibly ever. With John Wick he’s finally found the perfect role for him to get thoroughly invested in. He does everything himself: the stunts, the shooting, the incredible gun-fu. It’s all him, and he’s just so good at it.
The only actor who could come close to Reeves in this department is perhaps Tom Cruise, who’s done something similar with the Mission: Impossible movies.
John Wick will go down in history as one of the best action characters of our generation, and that’ll be down to good direction, incredible choreography and Reeves’ performance.
2. Halle Berry’s in this one
Reeves’ Wick will be joined by a new character in this movie: Halle Berry’s Sofia. She seems a rather reluctant helper to Wick and the trailers have made it very clear that she’s not happy he managed to find her. Sofia is yet another dog-lover and this film boasts more dogs than any of the John Wick films before it.
This should be a reason in itself to watch the movie, but Berry being involved in a new action film is something to take note of. She’s a brilliant actress who’s been sidelined somewhat ever since the awful Catwoman. but that film’s downfalls are by no means her fault. I for one cannot wait to see what she does in this movie and getting to watch her kick some serious butt.
1. There’s nothing better than watching gun-fu on the big screen
Gun-fu just looks stunning on the big screen. It was first introduced in Christian Bale’s Equilibrium, and it’s come a long way since then. It’s a remarkable form of martial art and one which lends itself really well to cinema.
There’s also the fact that Reeves is brilliant at it and throughout the course of these John Wick movies they’ve taken their choreography very seriously and made sure it’s absolutely perfect.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum promised more gun-fu than you can shake a… well… a gun at. The trailers have made that aspect of the film very clear. Yet, it’s clear they’ve also added a few more aspects which should get martial arts movie lovers even more excited. The fighting dogs seem like a good addition, as does John Wick on a horse!
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will be in cinemas on May 16, 2019.
