Deborah Ann Woll, renowned for her role as Karen Page in Netflix’s Daredevil, has shared a disheartening update on her potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the forthcoming Born Again series from Marvel Studios.

Woll had previously expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of reprising her role, stating she’d return “in a heartbeat.” However, it appears Marvel hasn’t reached out to her about any such opportunity. What’s more, The Hollywood Reporter recently revealed that neither Woll nor her co-star Elden Henson are expected to make a comeback in the upcoming reboot.

Despite her absence from the upcoming Disney+ reboot, Woll was recently spotted at ICCCon in Nashville, Tennessee, where she joined her former castmates Royce Johnson, Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio.

At the convention, the Daredevil star addressed fans’ inquiries about her potential return to the MCU in the forthcoming Born Again series. Woll also responded to a question regarding her potential involvement in any upcoming DC Studios projects, expressing uncertainty about whether she’d be permitted to “cross the streams.”

“I don’t know—do they let us do that? Am I allowed to cross the streams. I feel like that would be very dangerous… Yea, there’s a few people who can do it, but I don’t know if I’m one of those lucky few. I don’t know about DC,” Woll remarked (via The Direct).

Ultimately, Woll made it clear that there are currently “no plans for [her] so far on either side of the comic book universe,” indicating her non-involvement in Born Again.

She expressed gratitude for her experience working on Daredevil, stating, “You know, this was so cool to be a part of [Daredevil], and I think it was such a unique little corner of the MCU that felt really special… I’m really happy with what I’ve had, and there are no plans for me so far on either side of the comic book universe, but I’m so grateful for the experience that I had”.

Karen Page is an integral part of Matt Murdock’s life, and her anticipated absence from Daredevil: Born Again has left many fans bewildered. There are speculations about her character being killed off-screen, which would leave Matt Murdock to navigate his world without the woman he loved.

Nevertheless, it is puzzling why Marvel Studios would pass on the opportunity to utilise Woll’s talent more effectively. While Karen Page and Foggy Nelson might not be returning, there will be some familiar faces for fans to look forward to.

Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is expected to make a comeback, as is Jonathan Bernthal’s iconic Punisher. Rumours suggest that Punisher’s role in the story once belonged to Kristen Ritter’s Jessica Jones.

As for the release of the show, it was originally set to debut next spring. However, the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike has slowed down the production of the project, which could potentially delay its debut from the initially planned Spring 2024 date.
