I’ve been getting a lot of people asking me about Mindhunter Season 3. Most people are asking me: “Is Mindhunter Season 3 happening at Netflix?”

Well, I suppose the short answer to that question is it depends.

It depends on a lot of things, however, the thing it depends on the most is whether David Fincher wants to do it or not.

We’ve been informed that Netflix and David Fincher have been talking about doing Mindhunter Season 3.

The latest information we’ve had on that front is that Netflix and Fincher are coming closer to agreeing on a deal.

So, does this mean it’s going to happen?

Well, it’s more likely than it’s been in a while.

In the past, Fincher has been rather down about the idea of doing a third season of the Netflix show.

During an interview with Vulture, Fincher said:

We lived there for almost three years. Not year in and year out, but … probably six or seven months a year … Mindhunter was a lot for me.

Mindhunter Season 2 was a lot for David Fincher

Fincher revealed in the same interview that he wasn’t happy with what the show’s writers had come up with.

He revealed that he, “ended up looking at what was written and deciding I didn’t like any of it, so we tossed it and started over.”

Fincher then opted to promote Courtenay Miles, who had been an assistant director on the show, to co-showrunner.

However, the show still took up most of Fincher’s time. He revealed:

It’s a 90-hour workweek. It absorbs everything in your life. When I got done, I was pretty exhausted, and I said, ‘I don’t know if I have it in me right now to break season three.’

So, it sounds like Fincher’s experience on Season 2 of Mindhunter was not brilliant.

However, Fincher then went off and made Mank for Netflix.

He’s currently working on The Killer for Netflix which is going to star Michael Fassbender.

Fincher is also attached to another project which is only referred to as Stranger.

There is no cast nor crew attached to this movie and it’s a Warner Bros. Pictures production.

As I mentioned earlier, the good news is that Fincher does seem to be interested in returning to Mindhunter.

Season 3 could end up being the final season of the show.

It would offer Fincher a nice way to end the show, which has left audiences on a bit of a cliffhanger.

The show’s been teasing the BTK killer and there are many fans out there who would love to see the show tackle that particular serial killer.

We’re going to have to wait and see what Netflix and David Fincher decide to do.

However, things are looking better than they have done for Mindhunter Season 3 in quite some time.

The actors, who were all released from their contracts, have said they would all love to come back for a Season 3.

Fincher is the only one who has to be convinced.

Netflix also needs to fork up more cash for Season 3, which is one of the sticking points apparently.
