Indiana Jones Spinoff Series Reportedly Cancelled

It’s being reported that the Indiana Jones spinoff series has been cancelled over at Lucasfilm. It had been revealed a while back that Lucasfilm was planning on keeping the Indiana Jones franchise alive after the release of The Dail Of Destiny by making a spinoff series.

However, there were no official details on the series, except that it would not involve Harrison Ford. That said, sources did state at the time that Disney and Lucasfilm had been meeting with writers and taking pitches for possible series ideas. It’s being reported that the ideas have stopped, as the series is reportedly dead.

This news comes to us via ‘insider’ Jeff Sneider. He was on The Hot Mic podcast, and that was when he revealed that the Indiana Jones spinoff series, which was untitled, had been shelved over at Disney.

Disney had reportedly told Lucasfilm to focus on making Star Wars projects instead, which kind of makes sense. This all comes after it was revealed that Lucasfilm had also opted to cancel Willow on Disney Plus after just one season. This was a sequel series to the 1988 Lucasfilm movie, and it sounds like the series didn’t do all that well on Disney Plus.

What’s going on over at Disney and Lucasfilm right now?

However, since the news was revealed, Willow’s showrunner did come out and state that the series hasn’t been cancelled and that they are writing the second season; who knows what’s going on over at Lucasfilm and Disney right now…?

Maybe this Indiana Jones spinoff series will be put back into development at some point in the future. But, it does look like it’s not a priority at Disney at the moment, which makes sense to me.

What I would love to see would be a series in which we all get to see the return of Ke Huy Quan as Short Round! Wouldn’t that be something worth watching…? I think so.
