Henry Cavill Has Quit The Witcher After 3 Seasons

Henry Cavill is calling it quits on The Witcher after three seasons on the Netflix series as Geralt Of Rivia, which is actually pretty shocking news. However, there might be a pretty interesting reason why he’s decided to call it a day on the show. The British actor revealed this new himself via his social media channels.

Here’s what Cavill had to say about leaving the Netflix series after just three seasons:

Some news to share from The Continent…

My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.

Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.

So, Cavill has called it quits. He will no longer be fighting monsters like Geralt Of Rivia after The Witcher Season 3, which I think is really sad news. However, he also revealed that the show had been renewed for a fourth season by Netflix and that Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth moving forward.

I have to say that I am a fan of Liam’s. However, I’m not so sure if he’s the same calibre of actor as Cavill. One of the main reasons why I watched the show in the first place was because of Cavill’s involvement. He’s perfect casting as Geralt Of Rivia, and I am sad to see him leave the role.

I also think we should be too quick to judge Liam Hemsworth in the role. I’m sure he’ll do an excellent job as Geralt, but I think the show will lose a few viewers after season three due to Cavill no longer being a part of it. That’s my opinion on the matter, and I may be proved wrong. Fingers crossed, I do end up being wrong because I really love the show, and I want it to continue.

It also seems as though Netflix has invested a lot of time and money into this series. They obviously want The Witcher to be a big pull for subscribers, and they are trying to turn it into a huge franchise. They’re about to release a spinoff show of The Witcher, which is called Blood Origin, and they are also making an animated Witcher series. So, there’s a lot to too forward to.

I’m also wondering whether Cavill’s departure from the series has anything to do with the fact that he was recently confirmed as reprising his role of Superman in the upcoming DC Universe movies. We’re going to have to see what happens with those movies moving forward.
