Henry Cavill Loved The Flash Movie According To Star

Henry Cavill Loved The Flash Movie According To Star

Many have already praised the upcoming The Flash movie, and now former DC star Henry Cavill reportedly also loved it, according to Sasha Calle at least. Another heroic Kryptonian will arrive on the big screen this month as DC Studios debut Calle as Kara Zor-El.

Unlike The CW’s Supergirl series, which starred Melissa Benoist and lasted for six seasons in a span of more than five years, the movie character didn’t have a happy childhood. In fact, she appears to be in an emotionally and mentally vulnerable state especially appearing to have been in seclusion for some time, devoid of exposure to Earth’s yellow sun.

This echoes the original comic books where the world does not have a Superman. Simply because Kal El did not get to be raised by the Kents in the 2011 comic book series Flashpoint, it is widely known that the popular story arc is the inspiration for the upcoming movie.

However, the story has had many adaptations both in animated films and in live action on television through the Arrowverse’s The Flash. The series, which starred Grant Gustin, saw its final and concluding season this year. With all the existing iterations, the big screen interpretation needs to change things up a bit.

Nevertheless, key elements are still there, which are:

  1. Barry Allen changes the course of history because he used the speedforce to save his mother in the past.
  2. The alternate reality has changed where there is a new Batman, another Barry Allen, and no Clark Kent, which renders the world powerless against the arrival of Zod. In place of the young male Kryptonian who supposedly crash-landed in the Kent farm is a female Kryptonian that somehow fell into less caring hands.
  3. Barry loses his Speedforce powers and enlists the help of the new Batman to recreate the conditions of how he got his powers in the first place.
  4. He goes back in time to fix the mistake he has made while struggling with the fact that he will lose his mother all over again.

Of all of these, Calle’s portrayal of Supergirl is one of the most anticipated aspects of the movie. Rightfully so, the actress would like to know how she fared portraying the role and who better to ask than her big screen cousin Superman Henry Cavill.

Sasha Calle indeed got a thumbs up for her performance in The Flash movie from Henry Cavill himself. The way she recounted the time she got that feedback from the actor gave indications that Cavill was hyped for the movie. She said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly via ComicBook.com:

Yes, I met him. I met him actually after the movie was done, months later. I gave him a big hug. You know, it’s Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience.

The actress still acknowledges that Cavill is “Our Man of Steel”. Sharing many fans’ feelings about the actor, as well as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who also said not even a year ago that the actor is this generation’s Superman. It is clear that she is beyond ecstatic about getting feedback from the actor himself. She continued:

I asked him, ‘Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?’ And he was like, ‘Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.’ I think, to me, that meant the world, because it’s Henry Cavill, Man of Steel.”

As expected, Cavill is a gentleman who has already acknowledged that the torch is to be passed on as well. Meanwhile, the future of Calle’s stint as Superman’s cousin is not yet definite whether it will have another project after the movie. DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran have not officially announced their plans.

Back in January, when they released their new DC slate, they were asked about Calle’s continuation of the character with the listed project Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Movieweb quotes the two saying:

We’re figuring it all out. We don’t know yet. We’re pretty far away from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Many think the two are just waiting for the public reaction to her portrayal of the character before they consider making a more definitive decision. Still, even if Sasha Calle’s flight as the Girl of Steel may just be at The Flash, she will surely be well-remembered. Henry Cavill said so.
