It’s being reported that Henry Cavill is meeting with Marvel Studios and is asking for $10 million to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

This report comes to us from Daniel Richtman and his Patreon page, which many pop culture news enthusiasts might think of as the Holy Grail.

Quick history lesson on Daniel Richtman: he posts all of his ‘scoops’ via his Patreon page, which people have to pay for.

The thing with Richtman is that he posts so much stuff – like an insane amount.

Some of it turns out to be correct, yet there’s also a lot of stuff he posts that is completely wrong.

So, all that to say, take this news with a sprinkling of salt.

Anyway, we were also told that Henry Cavill has been meeting with Marvel Studios, yet we were told he’s asking for a lot of money to join the MCU.

What Richtman is saying is that Henry Cavill (or his team) is demanding that he be paid $10 million to join the MCU.

That seems like a lot – and it is a lot – yet, given how much Marvel’s been spending on actors recently, it’s actually pretty much standard.

It’s been revealed that some of Marvel’s biggest stars can ask for an upfront salary as high as $20 million (Robert Downey Jr.).

Marvel’s other big heroes have been known to get paid around $15 million (Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans).

Then, there’s the tier 2 category Marvel superhero, such as Paul Rudd and perhaps Mark Ruffalo. They reportedly were paid $8 million per movie.

So, Cavill asking for $10 million sounds about right to me.

That said, Kevin Feige did offer me the role of Captain Britain and I offered to do it for free.

I might need to talk to my agent about that.
