Has Paul Bettany Been Trolling Us All Along? Is WandaVision’s Secret Cameo Actually Paul Bettany…?

OK, so bear with me on this one. I’ve been thinking long and hard about who could be cameoing in WandaVision based on what Paul Bettany’s been saying over the past few weeks. Could it be Sir Ian McKellen (no, and I’ll explain why later)? Could it be Sir Patrick Stewart (perhaps)? Could it be Al Pacino (maybe). However, after having watched WandaVision Episode 8 over on Disney Plus this morning, I’m starting to think that Paul Bettany and co. have been playing us this whole time. Let me explain.

Before I continue, I need to warn you that there are SPOILERS for WandaVision Episode 8 in this feature. So, you’ve been warned.

One of the reasons why I think this might be the case is because of what was revealed right at the end of WandaVision Episode 8. They finally unveiled what SWORD and Director Hayward were working on this whole time, and that was White Vision. This version of Vision is basically the same, just with none of the humanity and compassion that the original Vision has. So, in many ways, he’s evil Vision.

It looks like SWORD is going to unleash this version of Vision on Wanda in Episode 9 and it’ll wreak havoc because it won’t have any humanity and will just destroy everything. This White Vision will be played by Paul Bettany, but could be voiced by James Spader perhaps in a nice nod back to him playing Ultron.

However, what will happen is that Paul Bettany will be physically playing both characters. Thus, Bettany got to act alongside himself, and he’s been trolling us this whole time. Here’s what Paul Bettany had to say about this secret cameo in WandaVision:

So many things get leaked, but there’s this thing that has been completely under wrap that happens. I work with this actor that I’ve always wanted to work with and we have fireworks together, the scenes are great and I think people are going to be really excited. I’ve always wanted to work with this guy and the scenes are pretty intense.

Now, if this ends up being the case, I’m pretty sure people will be very, very upset with Bettany. So, maybe there is a secret cameo that we don’t know about coming in the upcoming episodes of WandaVision. Incidentally, it seems as though Disney has revealed themselves that there will be an Episode 10 of WandaVision, so there’s still a lot more to come from this show.

So, I suppose I’ll end this little mind dump by saying that I think Bettany might have been toying with us slightly. However, I don’t think he was referring to himself when he was talking about working with “this actor I’ve always wanted to work with”. I mean, I would find it funny, but I’m sure many Marvel fans would be devastated. I mean, just imagine the hubris of Bettany should this turn out to be the truth? That would be just too hilarious for me to handle and I’m pretty sure the Internet would explode.

What do you make of this theory? Do you think, like me, that Paul Bettany’s been playing us this whole time and that he’s actually the secret cameo he’s been talking about for WandaVision? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
