Now, before we get into where this news is coming from, we have to mention the fact that Legendary Pictures has already revealed they’re working on a Monsterverse series for Apple TV Plus.
This series will be set in the same world as the recent Godzilla and King Kong movies.
This series will be following on from the events of 2014’s Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters and Godzilla Vs Kong.
It seems that there’s going to be a sequel to Godzilla Vs Kong.
I’m sure many fans of the franchise will be really happy to hear.
Godzilla Vs Kong’s sequel is in the works!
The news that there’s a Godzilla Vs Kong sequel in the works come from The Courier Mail (via Godzilla-Movies.com).
They are claiming that a new untitled Monsterverse movie from Legendary Entertainment has been greenlit.
They addd that the movie is going to have a a $119 million budget and will be shooting in Queensland over in Australia.
It really does seem as though Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros Pictures are really leaning into this franchise.
Godzilla Vs Kong was released in 2021 and it was one of the movies to be released both in cinemas and on HBO Max at the same time.
The Monsterverse franchise is expanding
This was a decision that was taken by Warner Bros because of the pandemic.
However, the movie studio ended up in a spot of legal trouble with Legendary because of this decision to release Godzilla Vs Kong on HBO Max.
They ended up settling the dispute outside of court, but Warner Bros had to pay Legendary a lot of money to prevent a court battle.
