Disney To Extend Kathleen Kennedy’s Lucasfilm Contract

It’s been revealed that Disney is looking to extend Kathleen Kennedy’s contract as President of Lucasfilm, and I can’t say that I’m surprised.

This was revealed by our good friends over at Geekosity, who’s reporting that Disney will renew her contract towards the end of October.

Now, I know that many Star Wars fans will not like to hear this news.

However, I do not believe that Disney has any other choice than to extend her contract.

As it stands, Kennedy’s contract as Lucasfilm President will expire on October 31st, this year.

So, it stands to reason that Disney will be extending it soon, especially since there is no replacement in sight.

And, I know that many of you will be shouting one name: “JON FAVREAU”.

However, it looks like Favreau is perfectly fine being a showrunner on shows such as The Mandalorian, The Book Of Boba Fett and also an executive producer on the Ahsoka live-action series.

He’s also going to be directing The Jungle Book 2, so he’s got quite a lot on his plate already.

So, here’s what Geekostiy’s sources had to tell them about Kathleen Kennedy’s upcoming Lucasfilm President contract renewal:

It’s not like Kathleen wrote or directed any of those films. In Disney’s minds, they brought in billions to their bank accounts. Disney doesn’t want to lose Kathleen.

Another source then added:

Kathleen Kennedy won’t be Lucasfilm president at this point only if she decides to retire. Disney strongly believes she will continue guiding Star Wars to greater heights.
