There are rumours that Disney is working on a live-action Hercules movie and there are some big name directors in the mix.
This rumour comes from The Disney Insider and they tend to have a very good track-record as far as Disney-related things are concerned.
They claim that this live-action Hercules movie will come to cinemas and won’t be released on Disney Plus like their Lady and The Tramp live-action remake.
According to The Disney Insider, Disney is looking at some pretty big name directors to helm the project.
They mentioned names such as Jon Favreau, The Russo Brothers and strangely enough, Gore Verbinski.
Favreau is a pretty obvious choice to make the movie as he’s already made two very successful Disney live-action remakes.
He made The Jungle Book and The Lion King.
The Russo Brothers have also directed the last two Avengers movies (Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War), as well as Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.
Disney might be making a live-action Hercules movie
Verbinski made the first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies, as well as The Lone Ranger all for Disney.
This would be on top of the Robin Hood and Lilo & Stitch live-action remakes Disney have in production.
The Disney Insider also reports that Disney has tapped Jeffery Silver (The Lion King, Tron: Legacy) and Karen Gilchrist (The Lion King, The Mandalorian) to produce this Hercules live-action remake.
What do you make of this news?
Do you think a Hercules live-action remake is a good idea?
And, who do you think should play Hercules is this rumoured remake?
I’ve seen people suggest Chris Pratt for the lead role.
