David Ayer has shared a new look at Jared Leto’s Joker in his cut of 2016’s Suicide Squad, and fans are demanding more! This all comes after there were huge calls from a number of DC movie fans to have David Ayer’s Suicide Squad cut released for wider audiences.

People have been very intrigued to know more about Ayer’s cut of the 2016 Suicide Squad movie. It’s well documented that the movie released in cinemas back in 2016 was not the movie the director wanted to release.

One of the big reasons people have been calling for Ayer’s cut of the movie to be released is because he’s been very vocal about the differences between his film and the one released. According to Ayer, one of the most significant differences was Jared Leto’s Joker.

There were a lot of Joker’s scenes in Ayer’s cut of the movie that ended up being cut, and both Ayer and Leto have made it clear how unhappy they were about that. They both seem to want people to see what they made, and Ayer’s been posting a lot of pictures on his Twitter account of what we could have seen.

So, Ayer’s been at it again and posted a new photo of Leto’s Joker in his movie on his Twitter account. The photo shows Leto as Joker, dressed in an extravagant tux-style suit – only one embroidered with some pretty flashy golden lace work, including a giant skull on one lapel and an Illuminati eye on the other.

Ayer then captioned the photo with “Experiments” to give fans a further hint of everything they tried with Leto’s iteration of Joker. I have to say that when I saw the movie in cinemas, I really didn’t like Leto’s Joker.

However, I did like what I saw in the nightmare sequence in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and it seems that the character’s version is a lot closer to the one that was going to be in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad.

“This is an extraordinary case of a movie being utterly re-engineered in post. It’s not a couple cut scenes being added,” Ayer previously admitted on Twitter. “The nature of the film was fundamentally changed. I’m looking you in the eye telling you this. My cut is vastly better.”

Will Warner Bros Discovery ever release David Ayer’s Suicide Squad?

Ayer has also stressed to DC Comics and movie fans how much effort he put into his cut of Suicide Squad. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:

I put my life into Suicide Squad. I made something amazing. My cut is an intricate and emotional journey with some bad people who are shit on and discarded (a theme that resonates in my soul).

The studio cut is not my movie. Read that again. And my cut is not the 10-week director’s cut – it’s a fully mature edit by Lee Smith standing on the incredible work by John Gilroy.

It’s all Steven Price’s brilliant score, with not a single radio song in the whole thing. It has traditional character arcs, amazing performances, a solid third-act resolution. A handful of people have seen it.

Suicide Squad (not the Ayer cut) is now streaming on HBO Max. Would you like to see Warner Bros Discovery and DC Studios release the Ayer Cut of the movie?
