Dave Bautista has revealed how he had a meeting with Warner Bros. Pictures’ at their headquarters and demanded them to cast him as Bane – they didn’t.
Bautista revealed this during the recent Justice Con event.
The actor was there to talk about his upcoming movie, Army Of The Dead.
He made the movie with Zack Snyder, and it seemed like Snyder was always a fan of the actor.
I’m pretty sure he would have wanted to cast Bautista as Bane in the DCEU.
In all honesty, it would have been perfect casting, but Warner Bros. Pictures probably didn’t want to cast him because of his loyalty to Zack.
Dave Bautista really wanted to play Bane in the DCEU
Here’s what Bautista had to say on the time he demanded to play Bane in the DCEU:
Oh, it would be Bane all day long. I’ve made no secret about this. I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said, ‘I want to play Bane’. I’m not kidding. They were a little like, ‘Woah, we’re not even casting Bane’. I was like, ‘I don’t care, I’m playing him’.
Does this mean that Warner Bros. Pictures could cast Bautista as Bane in the future?
Perhaps, but then again, Bautista has shown in the past that he’s more loyal to filmmakers rather than studios.
When James Gunn was sacked by Disney, Bautista very publicly voiced his anger towards Disney for making that decision.
Could Dave Bautista ever play Bane in the DCEU?
In all honesty, I cannot think of anybody better than Dave Bautista to play Bane.
He’s literally perfect and built to play the DC Comics villain.
The thing is, I’m not sure he’d take on the role now given what Warner Bros. Pictures has done to Zack Snyder and the SnyderVerse.
I’m pretty sure he’d opt to do an Army Of The Dead sequel over playing Bane now.
We’re just going to have to wait and see what happens.
