Could Spider-Man: No Way Home Debut Mephisto?

Well, well, well. We are back here again. Mephisto. Careful. If you say his name three times he might just appear… Or wait, is that Candyman…? Or am I thinking of Bloody Mary…? So, we’re talking about Mephisto possibly being in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

There were rumours aplenty that Mephisto was going to be in WandaVision.

Well, we know what happened there and you know what, I was super disappointed that he didn’t turn up in the series.

But, some people online are now posing the question: Could Mephisto be behind everything in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

Or, could Mephisto be involved in the movie somehow.

Well, thankful Geekosity’s Mikey Sutton has come up with a really cool theory on how the movie could feature Mephisto.

Before I go anything further, I implore you to read what he wrote on the matter because he puts it far better than I ever could.

He also had bags more knowledge on the matter than I do.

But, what I’ll give you are the cliff notes: Mikey thinks that Doctor Strange isn’t actually Doctor Strange in No Way Home.

Is Doctor Strange actually Mephisto in Spider-Man: No Way Home…?

He believes it to be Mephisto in disguise.

Here’s what Mikey had to say on the matter:

That’s not Doctor Strange. Suspiciously, his Sanctum Sanctorum is filled with ice and snow. Isn’t that…strange? In Dante’s poem Inferno, the first part of his Divine Comedy, the Ninth Circle of Hell has a frozen lake. The Devil is in the details, and this one lives in the frost.

He then went on to add that, “it’s possible that Marvel Studios mashed Mephisto and Nightmare into a single character”.

This is an idea that I really like and fingers crossed this theory turns out to be correct.

What do you make of this theory?

Would you like to see Mephisto turn up in Spider-Man: No Way Home?
