It’s being reported that Chris Evans is now in talks to replace Henry Cavill in the upcoming Highlander reboot, which wouldn’t be a terrible idea in my mind. This all comes after it was revealed that Cavill was going to be taking a step back from the movie.
That was actually quite upsetting to hear because I, and many other people, thought he was the perfect actor to bring Highlander back into cinemas. The movie was going to be directed by John Wick: Chapter 4 director, Chad Stahelski, and he actually talked about the movie during a recent interview with Deadline.
This Highlander reboot has been taking a very long time to get off the ground, and Stahelski, who’s been attached to direct the project, revealed during an interview last week why it’s been taking such a long time to get going. Here’s what he had to say on the matter:
With Wick, you weren’t serving seven seasons of TV plus two spinoffs plus five films. If I were to do a remake of Highlander right now, you’d expect a lot of mythology in those first two hours; you couldn’t explore stuff without it.
Chris Evans could replace Henry Cavill in the Highlander reboot
So, according to Giant Freakin Robot, the studio behind this upcoming Highlander reboot is currently talking to Chris Evans about the possibility of him working with Stahelski in the movie. Why did Cavill leave the project? That was my first question.
I really thought he was perfect for the role, but it seems as though he and the movie’s director, Stahelski, just didn’t see eye-to-eye when it came to the film’s direction. That hasn’t been officially revealed to be the case yet. It’s just pure speculation on my part.
However, what we do know is that Cavill is out, and the studio is looking for a replacement. We had heard rumours that they might be looking at Chris Hemsworth for the role. That said, I haven’t heard anything really confirming those rumours.
Why did Cavill leave the project?

There have been so many rumours as to why Cavill ended up leaving this Highlander reboot. However, none of them have been confirmed as of writing this article.
My guess is that he was just too busy after he ended up getting the Warhammer 40K gig with Amazon Studios. He’s going to be starring in the series for Amazon and will also be a producer on it.
It seems as though Cavill has been tasked with the difficult job of turning the Warhammer franchise into a new cinematic and TV universe. So, he’s basically going to be the Kevin Feige of the Warhammer cinematic universe, which is very exciting.
Cavill has been a huge fan of Warhammer and has made that very clear over the course of his career. It seems as though he’s got himself the job he’s always wanted as the star of the upcoming Warhammer 40K series and has the opportunity to turn it into a successful Hollywood movie and TV franchise.
