Ben Affleck Batman Movie Might Be In Jeopardy

What’s going on with the Ben Affleck Batman movie…? Ben Affleck was reportedly going to get to direct his own standalone Batman movie thanks to Warner Bros Discovery’s decision to bring the actor back as the Dark Knight in the DCU. However, it seems as though Affleck might not get to direct a standalone Batman movie for DC Studios any more, and let us explain why.

It was revealed that Affleck and Matt Damon have signed an exclusivity deal with Artists Equity. According to The New York Times, Affleck’s work as a filmmaker will be released exclusively through Artists Equity going forward. Likewise, Damon is committed to produce and appear in an unspecified number of films for the company. Here’s what Affleck had to say about the new deal:

This is the next act of my career for a long, long time.

Affleck co-founded Artists Equity with his longtime friend and collaborator Damon. This new studio is focused on more equitable profit sharing among its productions’ cast and crew members. This is all terrific news, and I’m all for it. However, the fact that Affleck has signed this new deal with Artists Equity, is now working as the company’s chief executive and has committed to make films for the company, DCU fans are now wonder whether he’ll have time to return as Batman.

However, I do have to state that this deal is just in relation to the movies that Affleck will direct himself, not films that he’s set to star in. So, it does seem as though the actor will still be able to play Batman in upcoming DCU movies. However, he won’t get to direct his own standalone Batman movies unless Warner Bros. Pictures and Artists Equity strike some sort of deal with a new Batman film. That would be one way forward.

We will get to see him in The Flash and Aquaman 2

That said, Warner Brothers has not publicly commented on the actor’s future in the role, which means talk of future Batman movies should be taken as pure speculation. We haven’t been told anything about future Batman movies starring Affleck. However, what we do know is that he will be back as the Dark Knight in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom and The Flash movie.

So, that means that we will get to watch Batfleck in at least two DC Studios movies, which I suppose is better than nothing. There have been reports that Affleck will back as the Batman in a new trilogy. Will that happen? Honestly, I have no idea. I would love it to happen, but I just think that it would be rather confusing having two Batman trilogies running simultaneously. That might make audiences rather confused. I also think there could end up being Batman fatigue, which wouldn’t be good for the DCU’s future.
