Arnold Schwarzenegger’s New Netflix Spy Show Has A Release Date

Netflix reveals that its new action-comedy spy show Fubar, starring none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, is coming this May 25th. The teaser also just recently got uploaded on YouTube via the streaming giant’s official channel.

Schwarzenegger always has had a strong presence in action movies ever since his younger years with his massive build and command of presence. As years progressed, he also dabbled into comedy which was also a hit move for the actor. Many of his successful projects revolve around being a man with a mission.

Fubar, which was previously reported with the title UTAP, would appear to have a similar premise. The actor even stated that this is the project that will answer the frequent question that fans ask: When is he going to make a project similar to True Lies?

In an official statement via Deadline, Schwarzenegger happily shares:

Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh – and not just for two hours. You get a whole season. It’s been a joy to work with Nick, Skydance, and Netflix to give my fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.

Meanwhile, Nick Santora, the creator, showrunner and executive producer of the new spy series, said:

Fubar is, by far, the most surreal project of my career. I grew up watching Arnold Schwarzenegger films — I’d hit my dad up for a few bucks so I could race to the movies and see the biggest star in the world on the big screen — so creating the first scripted television project for Arnold is unbelievably exciting for me.

There are at least two generations of fans who remember Schwarzenegger in his iconic roles. Full-on action movies like The Terminator and Predator to his comedies from Twins, Kindergarten Cop, The Last Action Hero and of course, True Lies. Santora relates the actor’s movie hallmarks to the upcoming series:

The thing I always marveled at was how Schwarzenegger could be funny while still kicking ass … that’s why I wanted Fubar to be a hysterical, CIA-spy comedy mixed with heart-stopping action! And it is all that – and more. I’d love to elaborate with more details, but, sorry, it’s classified.

A CIA operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret and is forced back into the field for one last job.

Joining Schwarzenegger in the action-comedy series are Monica Barbaro, Adam Pally, Fabiana Udenio, Fortune Feimster, Aparna Brielle and many, many more. IMDb lists that one episode has Phil Abraham at its helm.

Emmy Award-winning director Abraham is highly known for Daredevil, Ozark and Mad Men. He also directed another series that Santora produced, which is the Most Dangerous Game. Other notable projects Santora worked on are the 2008 Punisher: War Zone as its writer, then the television series Prison Break and Scorpion as a producer for 79 and 93 episodes, respectively.

If anything, the audience is preparing for an action-packed series with doses of dark comedy here and there. Are you looking forward to watching Netflix’s new spy show starring Arnold Schwarzenegger? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
